Energy Evaluation
Your Energy Evaluation is conducted by a Natural Resources Canada Certified Evaluator. An evaluation involves first, modeling the house "as is" and then, modeling with potential energy saving upgrades in consultation with the homeowner.
This includes:
- Measuring the house envelope, insulation levels, windows, doors,
- Evaluating general efficiency of heating/cooling system, hot water, ventilation equipment,
- Review sample of standby electrical loss,
- Examine potentials for poor indoor air quality,
- A whole house Blower Door air leakage test,
- Prioritizing recommendations/improvements,
- Materials to help you understand your house as a system.
Blower Door Test

- Determines your home's annual air leakage rate (based on CGSB 149. 10M86)
- Compare "as is" air leakage test results with potential improvements
- Identify locations of air leakages
- Indicate if combustion spillage is likely due to back drafting
- Determine the equivalent size hole in your wall if all the leaks were in one place
Energy Evaluation Report
- Provides clear recommendations to improve the energy efficiency of your home
- Demonstrates potential savings after improvement
- Suggests many other energy saving measures
Homeowner Grant - Check back for upcoming Federal or Provincial incentives
ecoENERGY is a Natural Resources Canada Program. Incentives are offered to homeowners to reduce energy consumption through retrofit.
The Ontario Provincial Government may provide homeowners with up to $150 towards the first ecoENERGY evaluation.

An energy evaluation includes a blower door test. Your energy evaluator will assist you in completing and submitting grant applications eligible through the ecoENERGY Program.
